
'Schooner Days is a celebration of the world’s largest gathering of schooners along the waterfront of Olde Towne Portsmouth, Virginia.
Portsmouth's maritime celebration is the finale event of the 20th Annual Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. This celebration offers numerous maritime-related activities throughout the weekend and is free to the general public unless otherwise noted. Schooner Days promotes Portsmouth’s rich maritime history and brings awareness for the need to preserve and improve the natural resources of the Chesapeake Bay.
The Portsmouth waterfront from North Landing to beyond the High Street Landing will be lined with over 50 schooners from around the world. Visitors will have a photo opportunity of the largest collection of schooners in the world. A number of the vessels will be available for visitors to go onboard to see what living and working aboard a schooner is all about. Music is scheduled along the waterfront along with military re-enactors and pirates.
Olde Towne Portsmouth features a scenic waterfront including High Street Landing that has become Portsmouth’s Waterfront Gateway. From High Street Landing, visitors can stroll up High Street to discover a plethora of antique and boutique shops, museums and art galleries many of whom are participating in Schooner Days activities & events. You’ll find dozens of restaurants from upscale dining to pubs and outdoor cafes.
